Nolan Siegel

Nolan Siegel’s winning roll continued June 25 as he and teammates George Kurtz and Ben Hanley drove to victory in the LMP2 class during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Watkins Glen International.

It was the third consecutive victory this month for INDY NXT by Firestone championship leader Siegel, 18, from Palo Alto, California. He won the second race of the INDY NXT by Firestone Detroit Grand Prix doubleheader on June 4, followed by another victory in the next event, the INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix at Road America on July 18.

Sunday’s triumph was the first career IMSA WeatherTech Championship victory for Siegel, as he, Kurtz and Indianapolis 500 veteran Hanley led 109 of the 196 laps completed by the LMP2 prototype cars, one step below the premier GTP class. The victory also continued a hot streak for Kurtz, who also won the LMP2 Pro-Am class at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this month.

The No. 04 Crowdstrike Racing by APR team won a back-and-forth duel with the No. 18 Era Motorsport prototype driven by INDY NXT by Firestone driver Christian Rasmussen and teammates Ryan Dalziel and Dwight Merriman.

Hanley drove the final stint and built a lead of more than seven seconds before the race ended under caution. He took the lead during a pit stop cycle with about 40 minutes to go in the six-hour sports car endurance classic, keeping a gap over Rasmussen, who drove the final stint in the No. 18 car.

Siegel and Rasmussen are teammates with HMD Motorsports with DCR in the INDY NXT by Firestone championship, which returns to action this weekend with a race Sunday, July 2 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Live coverage starts at 11:30 a.m. ET on Peacock.
