Tango in the night
If you saw his tango with partner Sharna Burgess this week on “Dancing with the Stars,” you already know the reasons James Hinchcliffe (@hinchtown) is still trending. After telling the tale of Hinch’s gruesome, near-fatal 2015 accident to millions of “Dancing with the Stars” viewers, the pair made magic on the dance floor again and earned a near-perfect score of 29 from the judges.
That touched off all sorts of social media interaction.
Thanksgiving in October, eh?
Considering Monday was also the Canadian observation of Thanksgiving, American driver Conor Daly kindly tweeted gratitude for Canadian pal Hinchcliffe’s dancing skills. Daly also showed up on the set of “Dancing with the Stars” and helped Hinch wish everyone a happy holiday.
Playing games
Regarding Hinchcliffe’s nationality, he reached a new level of fame in the North this week when he became the answer to “5 down” in The Toronto Metro’s crossword puzzle. Burgess is “24 across.”
Daly rallies
Isn’t it just like an INDYCAR driver in the offseason to find another race car to drive? Before his adventure at “Dancing with the Stars,” Daly headed to the Red Bull Global Rallycross finale in Los Angeles and couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a spin. Honda tweeted about it.
Chilton nets a goal with Chelsea captain
Across the Pond, Max Chilton got all dressed up in black tie for the Make-A-Wish UK charity dinner at the swanky Jumeirah Carlton Tower, just a mile down the street from Buckingham Palace. He snapped a picture with John Terry, former captain of the England national soccer team and current captain of Premier League club Chelsea.
Giving rides and then taking one
In Colombia, Juan Montoya was giving away bikes – 120 of them, to be exact – to Wayuu children. Then, according to Twitter, he gave windsurfing a try but got a little nervous.
Making a track
A once-a-year visit to Pocono Raceway isn’t enough for 6-year-old Michael Crowe. So Crowe, who loves Scott Dixon so much that he dressed like the four-time Verizon IndyCar Series champion for Halloween last year, built his own version of the track’s “Tricky Triangle” in his backyard.
Crowe is autistic, so he has incredible attention to detail. He and his family spent weeks marking the yard, digging the track and filling it in.
