2015 Verizon IndyCar Series highlights: Heading a two-car effort, Bourdais posted victories at Belle Isle-2 and dominantly at The Milwaukee Mile, giving the four-time season champion 34 career Indy car wins, tied for seventh all time. Three subpar finishes to end the season, however, dropped him from sixth to 10th in the final standings. Rookie teammate Stefano Coletti struggled to adapt most of the season, posting just one top-10 finish.

What’s new for 2016: The team has scaled back to one car in 2016, believing a single focus on Bourdais’ success will raise its level to compete for the championship. KVSH will partner with PIRTEK Team Murray to field rookie Matthew Brabham in the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in May.

They said it: “This series is all about consistency and being committed to the effort of the program, and I think this year being able to really focus everything on one car and not get any distraction is a big help,” Bourdais said. “We’re no Penske or Ganassi, but we can be as good or better on any given day when we get our stuff together. That's really the challenge for me that I relish.”

Added Vasser, “We've tried to stay a two-car team for financial reasons, really, and we always think that we're going to try to add the right driver to complement our main effort, and over the last few years it just really hasn't happened. Maybe we've been trying to fool ourselves, and it just turns into more of a disaster and a distraction. … We really feel that we're in a position to fight for the championship this year. … The main component starts with the driver and Bourdais is a proven, great champion, a legend in the sport, and we've been able to keep him with his engineer.”
