Will Power

Since joining Team Penske in 2009, Will Power has amassed some impressive numbers, including 36 pole positions in 108 starts with the team.

Combined with the six poles he won in the Champ Car World Series, the Australian could be on pace to beat Mario Andretti’s career record of 67 Indy car poles, provided Power continues to win poles at his current rate of one for every three starts for the next four seasons.

In 2015, Power won a series-best six poles – St. Petersburg, Indianapolis Grand Prix, Belle Isle 1, Texas, Toronto and Sonoma – and moved past Rick Mears for fifth on the all-time list, but Power wasn’t the only Team Penske driver to make a move.

Helio Castroneves claimed poles at Long Beach, Barber, Iowa and Pocono to bring his career total to 45, three ahead of Power on the all-time list and just four behind Bobby Unser for third all-time. Castroneves’ four poles were his most in a season since 2007, when he won a career-best seven poles.

Chip Ganassi Racing Teams’ Scott Dixon won poles at the Indianapolis 500 and Mid-Ohio – his 22nd and 23rd career poles – to tie Johnny Rutherford for 12th all time. Next up for Dixon: Paul Tracy, who had 25 poles in his Indy car career.
