James Hinchcliffe is quick to provide a Public Service Announcement regarding tweeting/texting while driving.

“Professional driver on a closed course is the line I’m going with,” he says. “You should not tweet while driving.”

The second-year IZOD IndyCar Series driver last week was schooling media members on an indoor karting track when he tweeted, "Anyone can tweet under a red flag, this is tweeting under green! Impressed, @keselowski?!" Of course, it was the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver who stirred the Twitterforce  earlier in the week by tweeting with fans during a rain delay of the Daytona 500.

It goes to show that Hinchcliffe, 25, is as comfortable sharing his thoughts on life, love and living la vida loca on social media as he is on the Sebring International Raceway during the IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test in the Chevrolet-powered No. 27 GoDaddy.com car.

Personable, entertaining and media savvy – a conglomerate of the reasons he was selected by the equally media savvy domain registrar and Andretti Autosport to drive in the series this season. Prior to the karting event, he toured the Go Daddy campus in Arizona. Photo shoots, interviews, chatting up call center workers ...

“It’s a bit of a whirlwind,” says Hinchcliffe, the 2011 Sunoco Rookie of the Year. “We’ve known it all along how much Go Daddy cares about its racing programs and activates around them, but it’s cool to see. I got to go visit the headquarters and learn a bit about all that company does. They’re incredible as an organization and what they do is incredible, too. So it was educational.”

His hometown of Toronto, which plays host to the July IZOD IndyCar Series event, was the site of the media go-kart event.

“It’s exciting to see the kind of response it’s getting back home being with Andretti,” he says.
