Three of the most accomplished figures in INDYCAR SERIES history are expanding their influence beyond the racetrack.

Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon, four-time series champion Dario Franchitti and 2004 series champion Tony Kanaan were announced Thursday as members of a new strategic ownership group for NASCAR's LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.

The trio joins athletes, entertainers, entrepreneurs and investors from across sports, business and media. According to LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, the ownership group collectively represents more than 30 championships and major professional titles, including five Indianapolis 500 victories.

Among the other notable members are two-time National League MVP Bryce Harper, 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, former world No. 1 tennis player Andy Roddick, Grammy Award winner Darius Rucker, Emmy Award-winning chef and entrepreneur Guy Fieri, Away co-founder Jen Rubio and World Series champion Chase Utley.

"This is not a traditional ownership group," LEGACY MOTOR CLUB co-owner Jimmie Johnson said. "It is a collection of people who understand competition, leadership, innovation, storytelling and how enduring organizations are built. They come from different worlds but share a common belief: that LEGACY can become something fundamentally different within motorsports and culture."

Johnson said the group's diverse backgrounds align with the organization's vision of growing beyond competition on the racetrack.

"The caliber, diversity and perspective of this group speak directly to where LEGACY is headed," Johnson said.

Dixon, Franchitti and Kanaan bring decades of success at the highest level of open-wheel racing.

Dixon has won six NTT INDYCAR SERIES championships and the 2008 Indianapolis 500. His 59 career victories rank second all time in series history. Franchitti captured four series championships and won the Indianapolis 500 three times, in 2007, 2010 and 2012, before retiring after the 2013 season. His 31 victories rank 11th on the all-time wins list.

Kanaan won the 2004 series championship and the 2013 Indianapolis 500, highlighting a career that included 17 victories. He later transitioned into team management while remaining active in motorsports and currently serves as Team Principal at Arrow McLaren. Dixon also will join Arrow McLaren next season after spending 25 years with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Their addition further strengthens the connection between LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Johnson competed in the series for Chip Ganassi Racing part-time in 2021 and full-time 2022 before becoming co-owner of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, which fields entries in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Johnson made 29 NTT INDYCAR SERIES starts and earned Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 after qualifying 12th. He led two laps before crashing in Turn 2 with seven laps remaining and finished 28th.

LEGACY MOTOR CLUB also partnered with Arrow McLaren for Ryan Hunter-Reay's No. 31 Chevrolet in the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge earlier this year.

The collaboration extended beyond the race car. LEGACY brought 2015 Indianapolis 500-winning race engineer Brian Campe to serve as race strategist and car communicator for the Hunter-Reay entry. Several LEGACY NASCAR pit crew members also trained and worked alongside Arrow McLaren's over-the-wall crew to service the No. 31 Chevrolet.
