INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
#DANWHELDON
Oct. 16 will never go by on the INDYCAR calendar without thoughts of Dan Wheldon, the two-time Indy 500 winner we lost on that day in 2011. We saw hundreds of posts honoring him this week, including:

THAT ONE TIME IN CHAMP CAR
In honor of INDYCAR’s return to Portland International Raceway in 2018, Graham Rahal dug up a decade-old photo of current stars who raced at the last Indy car there in 2007. Such innocence on the faces of Will Power, Sebastien Bourdais, Simon Pagenaud and Rahal!
MICHAEL RAHAL, 1924-2017
Rahal family patriarch and a member of “The Greatest Generation,” Michael Rahal, was buried at Arlington National Cemetery just outside Washington, D.C. In addition to seeding the family’s love for racing, Rahal was a World War II veteran – a torpedoman on the USS Macdonough destroyer.
