Simon Pagenaud

INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.

Running on empty

Remember when Alexander Rossi squeezed every drop of fuel from his car to win the 2016 Indianapolis 500? Well, his roommate and fellow INDYCAR driver Conor Daly wasn’t as lucky, running out of gas last week and ending up on the side of the road.

Fair games

The annual tradition of INDYCAR drivers attending the Indiana State Fair with long-time motorsports journalist Robin Miller continued this week with Tony Kanaan and Conor Daly. We’re sure Miller’s report will show up on an upcoming race broadcast, but here’s a preview, thanks to social media. Nice jump shot, Lauren Kanaan!

How did he do that?

Meanwhile, 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud was hard at work on the off week from racing, apparently with power tools, at home in North Carolina. Seems his Menards sponsorship has inspired home improvement work. Simon’s girlfriend, Hailey McDermott, isn’t mad about it.

Things can’t get much better

When he played a concert in Indianapolis recently, English musician Howard Jones, known for his 1980s hits “Things Can Only Get Better” and “No One is to Blame,” got a VIP tour of Indianapolis Motor Speedway complete with a drop-in from Alexander Rossi.

Jones wore an Indianapolis 500 shirt on stage at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park and they made a video about the pilgrimage.

Gateway to the best

Verizon IndyCar Series teams tested the newly paved surface at Gateway Motorsports Part outside St. Louis last week. Graham Rahal can’t wait to return for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Valvoline on Aug. 26.

Daily dose of cute

Seems like there’s always a cute photo of young Marco Andretti around. This time, it was on his dad’s shirt when Michael Andretti hosted an Andretti Autosport party in his backyard.

πŸ€”. Damnit.
