In September of 2005, Scott Dixon ended a winless drought of nearly three seasons when he took the checkered flag in the Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix at the famed Watkins Glen International.

It was the beginning of a streak that has lifted the multi-time Verizon IndyCar Series champion into the company of some of the sport’s greatest drivers.

Since that race win, Dixon has won at least one Indy car race in each season – a span of 11 consecutive seasons. That streak ties him with Bobby Unser (1966-1976), Emerson Fittipaldi (1985-1995) and Helio Castroneves (2000-2010) for most consecutive race-winning seasons.

The only other active drivers with streaks of five years or more are Will Power with seven straight years with a win and Ryan Hunter-Reay with six consecutive seasons.

Dixon has wins in all but two of his seasons as an Indy car driver. His 13 seasons with at least one win, ties him with Rick Mears and Gordon Johncock for eighth on the all-time list.

A.J. Foyt holds the record with 18 winning seasons, and at age 35, Dixon could be poised to match the legendary mark held by Foyt, should he continue winning into his 40s. Helio Castroneves, who has 15 seasons with a win, could tie Mario Andretti for second all-time with a win in 2016.
