Scott Dixon

Three-time Verizon IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon, who is in contention for the driver title entering the penultimate race of the season, is featured on "INDYCAR Chronicles" at 3:30 p.m. ET Aug. 22 on NBCSN.

The show, which follows NBCSN's live coverage of Verizon IndyCar Series qualifications for the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, goes off the racetrack with Dixon and his family (including his wife and daughters shopping at Target for his 35th birthday present) in addition to Dixon competing in the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet during the race weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course earlier this month.

Dixon is third in the Verizon IndyCar Series standings entering the 200-lap race on "The Tricky Triangle," where he won in 2013.

NBCSN also has live coverage of the race at 2 p.m. ET Aug. 23. Leigh Diffey is the lead announcer with analysts Paul Tracy and Steve Matchett.

A programming note: NBCSN will telecast live coverage of the final practice session and three rounds of qualifications Aug. 29 from Sonoma Raceway. The network will telecast the championship-deciding GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma live at 4 p.m. ET Aug. 30. The race broadcast will be preceded by encore presentations of "INDYCAR Chronicles" that feature Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay and Dixon.
