Vintage Racing

Pocono Raceway will host the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association “Pocono Vintage Festival with INDYCAR” on Aug. 20-23 in conjunction with the ABC Supply 500 race weekend.

The event will include multiple vintage car exhibitions on the oval and road course, a car show and the 40th Annual Shelby American Automobile Club Convention.

Additionally, Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees, The Guess Who, will perform in concert Aug. 22 as part of the Infield Block party.

The ABC Supply 500 -- the penultimate race on the Verizon IndyCar Series schedule – on the 2.5-mile oval will play a key role in deciding the driver and entrant championship. Juan Pablo Montoya, who leads the championship standings heading into the June 27 MAVTV 500 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., won the race last year.

American Honda, Sato to be feted

The Japan America Society of Southern California will honor American Honda for serving as an engine for growth for the U.S. economy and its commitment to corporate and social responsibility and Verizon IndyCar Series driver Takuma Sato of Tokyo during its 106th Anniversary Dinner & Gala Celebration on June 30 in Anaheim, Calif.

Sato, the first Japanese driver to win an Indy car race, will drive the No. 14 ABC Supply Honda for AJ Foyt Racing in the MAVTV 500 on June 27 at Auto Club Speedway.

Chaves and Jakes to take in Galaxy match

The LA Galaxy will host Verizon IndyCar Series drivers Gabby Chaves and James Jakes at their MSL game June 24 against Portland.

The drivers will meet with children from the Children's Institute Inc., one of the non-profit groups the LA Galaxy supports. On June 27, children from CII will visit Auto Club Speedway and receive a tour of the garage area before the MAVTV 500.

Corvettes coming to Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The nation's most prestigious and longest running all-Corvette show, Bloomington Gold Corvettes USA, will make its inaugural appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on June 25-27.

Bloomington Gold will showcase a display of 1965 Corvettes and feature Corvettes from all other years throughout the infield. There also will be an all-Corvette car show on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis from 7-9 p.m. (local) June 26.

Motorsports journalist Dave Despain will be the grand marshal of the MAVTV 500. His weekly TV series "The Dave Despain Show" will return to the MAVTV network July 12. … A 60-minute practice for rookies immediately preceding the 9:30-10:15 a.m. (local) all-cars session has been added to the June 26 schedule at Auto Club Speedway. A 75-minute practice on the 2-mile oval starts at 12:45 p.m. (local) and qualifications start at 4:45 p.m. (local).
