RC Enerson captured the finale of the Cooper Tires Winterfest for the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda and earned the title for the six-race mini-series split between Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala., and NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans.

The 16-year-old from New Port Richey, Fla., driving for Team E Racing, started from the pole position on the 2.3-mile Barber Motorsports Park course.

"It was a great race today. I made a good start and just held my own in the race," Enerson said. "To win the championship is just amazing. I want to carry this with me into the season and, hopefully, use this momentum to good effect in St. Pete and try to go for the regular-season championship. The team did a fantastic job to give me a great car."

Michael Epps, who started and finished second in the final race, was runner-up in the driver standings and gave Belardi Auto Racing the team championship.

The regular USF2000 season will kick off March 29-30 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla.
