James Hinchcliffe

"The Mayor of Hinchtown" is expanding his domain.

James Hinchcliffe will work with Honda Canada to promote the Honda brand across his native land. The Andretti Autosport driver, who won three IndyCar Series races last season, will be featured on multiple multimedia platforms throughout the year.

James HinchcliffeHinchcliffe and Dave Gardner, vice president of sales and marketing for Honda Canada, made the partnership announcement following the Canadian unveiling of the 2015 Honda Fit at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

"This is shaping up to be a huge year and I'd like to thank Honda Canada for their support," said Hinchcliffe, who will drive the Honda-powered No. 27 United Fiber & Data car this season. "It's been a long offseason and I'm ready to get back out there. We've got a great car, great team and fans can expect big things.

“Honda Canada has always been great at promotion. I think using me and the tie-in to INDYCAR can really help show people that these cars have a lot of the same traits we look for in our race cars; performance, reliability, fuel economy, safety and style.”

Hinchcliffe, 28, a native of Toronto, earned his initial IndyCar Series victory in the 2013 season-opening race on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla. The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg kicks off the 2014 season on March 30. The Honda Indy Toronto -- a doubleheader weekend on the streets of Exhibition Place -- is July 19-20.

"We're so pleased to welcome James to the Honda family and I think I speak on behalf of all race fans when I say that the new season can't start soon enough," Gardner said. "Honda Indy Toronto is a landmark event and it's fantastic to be working with such a talented, not to mention, local driver."
