Since Halloween falls on Monday, we're giving you an early treat - an Indianapolis 500.

Trick or Treat, Classic Rewind viewers. We're giving you an early treat featuring the fan-favorite race car - the Pennzoil Chaparral, aka "The Yellow Submarine."

The Chaparral 2K-Cosworth actually made its Indianapolis 500 debut in 1979 with Al Unser behind the wheel. Unser led for 89 of the 200 laps. But on Lap 105, an engine fire broke out and Unser's bid for a second consecutive, and fourth overall, win was halted. (Big Al would get that fourth win eight years later in another yellow car driving for Roger Penske.)

Car owner Jim Hall returned with the car the following season with Johnny Rutherford replacing the departed Unser as the driver. The combination proved to be formidable with Rutherford recording four wins and a pair of runner-up finishes in the first six races of the season. The second win for the car came at Indianapolis, where Rutherford earned the pole position, led 118 laps and won the race by a commanding 29.92-second margin.

Rutherford, also the winner in 1974 and 1976, became the sixth driver to win the Indy 500 three times. Next week, with the calendar turning to November, we're offering up selections of famed November Indy car races. Select your favorite below and we'll show it next week.
