TORONTO -- Simon Pagenaud is making things look easy at the Honda Indy Toronto.

The Team Penske driver backed up his field-leading Friday pace with the quickest lap in Saturday's morning practice for the NTT IndyCar Series. Next up is NTT P1 Award qualifying at 2 p.m. ET on the NBC Sports Network and the Advance Auto Parts INDYCAR Radio Network.

Pagenaud's morning run was clocked at 59.3651 seconds, which was .07 seconds faster than second-place driver Felix Rosenqvist of Chip Ganassi Racing. Rosenqvist also was second on Friday's speed chart.

In Friday's final practice, three drivers turned laps quicker than 1 minute. Saturday morning, 12 did.

Three rookies were in the top five Saturday morning: Rosenqvist, Santino Ferrucci of Dale Coyne Racing (fourth) and Colton Herta of Harding Steinbrenner Racing (fifth).

This latest session saw a handful of adventures, with 2012 race winner Ryan Hunter-Reay of Andretti Autosport sliding into the tire barrier in Turn 8. There was minimal damage to the car, and Hunter-Reay ended with the third-fastest lap. Graham Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan lost control in Turn 1 and slid into the tire barrier. He finished 12th.

Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing had a no-contact spin in Turn 9. He won last year's race, the third of his career.
