BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --Tony Kanaan will likely overtake Jimmy Vasser for the most consecutive starts in Indy car history this season. In the morning session of the second day of an Open Test at Barber Motorsports Park, the 2004 IZOD IndyCar Series champion was closing in on top of the time chart.
Kanaan recorded a quick lap of 1 minute, 7.5478 seconds on the 2.38-mile, 17-turn road course to rank second to Will Power (1:07.4981) in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske car. Power also was quickest overall on the first day of the test.

Testing wraps up this afternoon. The season-opening Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is March 22-24.
Earlier in the day, the team announced an alliance with SH Racing. The Chevrolet-powered No. 11 car driven by Kanaan will be referred to as the KV Racing Technology-SH entry.
"KVRT and SH have done great things together since the inception of our relationship (at Indianapolis in 2011) and I expect this season to be no different," KVRT co-owner Jimmy Vasser said. "The alliance with SH is one that has truly grown since its inception, and we have some exciting announcements together in the days to come."
