#Race4Houston Announcement

A.J. Foyt has a lifelong tie to the Houston area, so it’s no wonder that his race team is partnering with INDYCAR to raise funds to assist those affected by the devastation caused from Hurricane Harvey.

AJ Foyt Racing and INDYCAR announced today an initiative for fans to purchase a limited-edition run of “Race4Houston” T-shirts with all proceeds benefiting the Greater Houston Community Foundation (ghcf.org). The GHCF, a 501(c)(3) charity, was established by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner to accept tax-deductible flood relief donations for victims.

T-shirts, priced at $28, are available to order online http://shop.ims.com/2017-race-4-houston-tee/. They will also be available in limited quantities at the official INDYCAR merchandise tent beginning Saturday at Watkins Glen International, site of this weekend’s INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen.

Foyt was born in Houston 82 years ago and went on to win more races (67) than anyone in Indy car history. He also became the first driver to win the Indianapolis 500 four times. Acknowledged as one of the greatest drivers of all time, he now owns AJ Foyt Racing, whose primary shop is located in the Houston suburb of Waller, Texas.

The team's two cars driven by Conor Daly and Carlos Munoz will also carry special Race4Houston decals this weekend to honor the victims and encourage donations to the effort.

Others in the INDYCAR paddock are pitching in to help hurricane and flood victims as well. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver James Hinchcliffe has pledged to donate his prize money earnings from the final two races of the Verizon IndyCar Series season to Red Cross relief efforts.

Juncos Racing is accepting donations from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. ET Friday at its Indianapolis shop that it will deliver by truck to flooding evacuees in Texas. Items sought include bottled water, boxes of food, basic hygiene kits, diapers and more. Donations may be dropped off at the team’s shop at 4401 Gilman St. in Indianapolis. Donation appointments can be made by contacting Abby Carter (abby@juncosracing.com) or by calling (816) 694-1685.
