Quickstep is step forward; results due in tonight
OCT 08, 2012
As the artistic director of their Quickstep, Helio Castroneves received two thumbs up from his professional dance partner, Chelsie Hightower. The couple also received their highest scores from the three-judge panel for the spirited dance in Week 3 of "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars" despite a wardrobe malfunction.
All three judges gave the couple 8.5s for a total of 25.5 of 30.
Celebrities served as creative directors of the performances, in which couples recreated some of show's most unforgettable routines. Castroneves’ legs appeared to get caught in Hightower’s poofy dress toward the end of their dance, which was inspired by Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough’s Quickstep from Season 4.
“Up to the dress (incident) it was very good," Castroneves said. "Then, after that, it was good, too, because it was a good recovery. It is what it is. My only concern was that I lost balance. I was trying everything I can to make sure that I didn’t turn too fast because that would have thrown me off so I decided to dismount a little bit and back up then keep going."I wouldn’t change anything but I really wish I could do it again because it was a great dance.”

Two couples will be eliminated Oct. 9 (8-10 p.m. ET). Also on the show, Karmin perform "Hello" and "Brokenhearted" from their debut album "Hello" and musician Frankie Moreno is featured with with a medley of "Tangerine Honey" and "Real Wild Child," accompanied by troupe members Lacey Schwimmer and Kyle Massey.Castroneves said the couple altered their dance after a poor dress rehearsal, when he had also stepped on Hightower’s dress.
“I decided to change it and that’s when it became worse,” he said.
Hightower accentuated the positive, pointing out, “In racing, it’s like you make one mistake and that could be the end of your life. This is what I’m trying to teach him that if you make a mistake it’s fine," he said. "It happens. And usually, it’s not as big as you think it was and he recovered so well tonight. He really did. He got back up and he finished it like a professional and that’s hard to do coming from a celebrity. Nobody’s perfect.”
Castroneves was thrilled with the judges' praise. Len Goodman said he deserved to be back next week and Carrie Ann Inaba called him the Quickstep king.
“I was happy that even with the incident, they saw the effort we put in and didn’t throw our score way down," he said.
