Calvin Ming

Another veteran is returning to the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda in search of a scholarship that could further his career.

Pabst Racing announced that Calvin Ming will return to the team as driver of the No. 21 Mazda-powered Tatuus USF-17 during the 14-race season.

“I feel confident going into the 2018 series after having a successful 2017 season with the team,” said the 22-year-old Guyanan. “I have learned quite a lot from working with them last year, and I am confident that they can provide me with a very competitive car throughout the season this year.”

Ming earned 10 top-10 finishes in 2017, including four podium finishes as he finished fifth in the championship. A student at Florida International University and is optimistic about his return to the USF2000 Championship for 2018 and claiming his first win.

 “My goal for this year is simply to take everything I have learned from working with the team last season and apply those same techniques to the best of my ability in order to win the championship,” he said.

Ming will join Lucas Kohl and newcomer Rasmus Lindh in Pabst Racing’s lineup as the Wisconsin-based operation defends its 2017 Team Championship title. Team owner Augie Pabst has been hard at work lining up his drivers and preparing equipment as the season approaches quickly.

“We are thrilled to have Calvin returning for 2018,” Pabst said. “It confirms to me that we did our job as a team correctly in 2017, which is why he chose to return with our team. Calvin is another stellar addition to the finest driver lineup we ever could have hoped for.”
