James Hinchcliffe

INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence into tweets, Instagrams and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.

Cheers

Add “host of cheerleader auditions” to James Hinchcliffe’s already impressive resume of pop culture achievements. In helping the Indianapolis Colts pick their 2017 cheer squad, Hinchcliffe reminded us how much fun it was to watch him almost win the “Dancing with the Stars” Mirrorball Trophy last fall, too.

Hinchcliffe wasn’t the only representation from the Verizon IndyCar Series paddock. Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi and Hinch’s girlfriend, actress Becky Dalton, served as judges for the cheerleading competition.

And they wound up with a good crew of talented women to cheer on the hometown team this season.

Mothering Sunday

INDYCAR's international set is often reminded of holiday celebrations that aren’t on American calendars. This week, some in the Verizon IndyCar Series tweeted and Instagrammed tributes to their mums for Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom, and we got to see where those racing genes came from.

Dog fight

Relaxing at home last weekend, Verizon IndyCar Series champ Simon Pagenaud was surrounded by scuffles, professional and otherwise.

@Petetheplanner: Go fund Pippa’s Indy 500

It takes a lot money to run an entry in the Indianapolis 500. So Peter Dunn, an Indianapolis INDYCAR fan known as “Pete the Planner” because he’s a personal finance adviser, is running a Go Fund Me campaign in support of Pippa Mann, who announced Tuesday plans to enter the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil with Dale Coyne Racing. We hope to see Pete on Pippa’s car in May!

Stranger things

Following his attempt at becoming an “America Ninja Warrior,” AJ Foyt Racing's Conor Daly spent time on the couch watching science fiction and thinking about magic.

Grass roots

Marco Andretti apparently likes the feel of grass between his toes. Promoting the warm-weather vibe, the Andretti Autosport driver ordered a pair of grass flip-flops. We hope the unique fashion statement is coming soon to an INDYCAR race near us!

Ordered. Lmao.
