Points: Driver, entrant and engine manufacturer receive points corresponding to their finish in the race (manufacturer points are awarded to the top three Chevrolet and Honda finishers). Bonus points for driver/entrant also are awarded for Verizon P1 Award (1 point), leading the most laps (2 points) and leading a lap (1 point). Engine manufacturer bonus points are awarded for Verizon P1 Award (1 point) and leading the most laps (2 points).

Qualifying: Helio Castroneves earned the Verizon P1 Award in the No. 3 AAA Insurance Team Penske Chevrolet. It was the 43rd pole of his career and second at Barber Motorsports Park. Team Penske teammate Will Power also will be on Row 1.

"That's the beauty of having teammates. At the end of the day, we're still racing," said Castroneves, who won the inaugural Verizon IndyCar Series race at Barber Motorsports Park in 2010. "Also to win the race, you don't win in the first corner. Will knows that. We're still competitors. Whatever happens, we'll make sure that one of the guys wins the race."
