Honda Press Conference

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Per INDYCAR engine regulations for 2014, Honda Performance Development is supplying a BorgWarner twin turbo in the 2.2-liter V6 engine for its Verizon IndyCar Series teams.

Mark Crawford, HPD's Large Project Leader for its Verizon IndyCar Series program, talked about the development of the HI14RTT, the evolution from the single turbo its utilized in 2012 and '13 and the challenges of meeting the 2,500-mile threshold before an engine can be changed without penalty. Crawford, who has been an HPD associate since 1996, noted that about 100 horsepower is made by each cylinder.
