Simon Pagenaud

Fast Six highlights the best social posts from across the Verizon IndyCar Series. It’ll help you keep up with our extraordinary drivers, teams and alums, and their fast-paced lives.

One step closer, one big batch of warm fuzzies

Robert Wickens just keeps on inspiring and making us smile with his smile. On Tuesday, the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver posted this video of him taking assisted steps as he continues his dogged rehabilitation from the spinal cord injury sustained in a crash earlier this year.

The look on Wickens’ face at the end speaks volumes. The motorsports world is with you every step of the way!

Before that, Wickens got into the holiday spirit by bringing in his own Christmas tree to the rehab facility. We always knew he could haul the mail, but this shows he can take in the timber, too.

Remember the Pagenaud … and the BBQ, too

INDYCAR drivers Simon Pagenaud and Colton Herta were in Texas last week to help Circuit of the Americas launch ticket sales for the highly anticipated IndyCar Series race there in March. Pagenaud looked like he was ready to defend the famous Alamo in San Antonio.

Herta, meanwhile, stopped by the state capitol building in Austin before sampling some of the food that makes Texas famous at Black’s Barbecue.

The purrrr-fect pair of names

When a family of INDYCAR fans named their newly adopted kittens after Schmidt Peterson Motorsports drivers James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens, it elicited an immediate reply from Hinch on a good way to tell them apart.

And they called it puppy love

Keeping it in the pet theme: Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing driver Graham Rahal surprised his wife, drag racer Courtney Force, with an Alaskan Malamute puppy for their third wedding anniversary. It’s clear that Arrow has struck quickly into the hearts of both of his human parents.

Best buddies ride for Best Buddies

NASCAR great Jimmie Johnson snapped this group selfie from the Best Buddies Challenge bike ride in Miami that included another champion, INDYCAR driver Tony Kanaan from AJ Foyt Racing. Best Buddies works to create communities of inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Who’s that spotter with the French accent?

Joey Logano brought home the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship for legendary owner Roger Penske over the weekend. Another Team Penske champion, INDYCAR driver Simon Pagenaud, did his best to help from a sketchy spotter’s post, but it’s unclear whether the Frenchman’s sage advice got through to Logano.
