2015 Verizon IndyCar Series highlights: Merging the efforts of two teams into what was CFH Racing, the team saw rising star Josef Newgarden have a breakout season with two wins and a seventh-place finish in the championship. Ed Carpenter drove ovals only in the No. 20 car, with Luca Filippi handling the road and street courses. Carpenter managed two top-10 finishes while Filippi had four, highlighted by a runner-up finish to teammate Newgarden at Toronto.

What’s new for 2016: With the departure of Sarah Fisher and Wink Hartman from the ownership group, the team has reverted to its Ed Carpenter Racing name. Newgarden is back for the full season. Carpenter will drive only ovals again. At this time, the team doesn’t have a driver signed for the road/street events in the No. 20.

They said it: “There’s more cohesion, more chemistry,” Carpenter said. “Last year we went into the season having brought two teams together. Even though we’ve gone through a team name change going into this year, the group’s essentially the same, all the key positions are the same. Last year we were coming to tests (before the season) figuring each other out, figuring out each other’s strengths and management styles. Now we’re just working as a whole unit to get better. I feel like we’re going to be able to hit the ground running a little better at the start of the season than last year. Hopefully that will lead to more consistent results from start to finish. I think the whole team feels much more prepared going into this season.”
