The car: No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet

The drivers: Carpenter, who made his first Indy car start on Sept. 7, 2003, at Chicagoland Speedway, turned 34 on March 3. Filippi, in his first season with the team, turned 30 on Aug. 9.

The gist: Filippi competed on road/street circuits, while team co-owner Carpenter drove the No. 20 entry solely on ovals for the second consecutive season. … Teammate Josef Newgarden, a two-time winner this past season, drives the No. 67 Chevrolet full time. … Carpenter, a three-time race winner and back-to-back pole winner for the Indianapolis 500, has made 159 Indy car starts. … Filippi, of Italy, has made 18 starts over parts of the past three seasons with three teams. … All three drivers return for the 2016 season. … Carpenter and Newgarden are participating in a team test Oct. 14 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Season finish: The No. 20 entry placed 18th in the Verizon IndyCar Series entrant standings. The No. 67 entry (No. 21 for the Indianapolis 500) placed seventh.

Season stats: In the six oval races, Carpenter recorded a best finish of sixth at Iowa Speedway after starting 11th. He had a high qualifying of fourth at Auto Club Speedway, but contact relegated him to 22nd place. It was a tough season all around as he was running at the finish in two races (10th place at Milwaukee and Iowa). … Filippi had a best finish of second to Newgarden on the streets of Toronto, where he qualified a season-high sixth, in his 10 starts. He added three other top-10 finishes. Was running at the finish in eight races. ... Toronto and Mid-Ohio were the only racetracks where Filippi had previously competed.

Year over year: Carpenter’s 2015 best qualifying was fourth at Auto Club Speedway (14.2 average) and best finish of sixth at Iowa Speedway (17.8 average). 2014 best qualifying of first at Indianapolis 500 (8.2 average) and best finish of first at Texas Motor Speedway (9.7 average). … Filippi’s 2015 best qualifying was sixth at Toronto (12.4 average) and best finish of second at Toronto (13.9 average). In four races with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2014, he had a best qualifying of fourth at Houston-1 (11.3 average) and best finish of 15th at Houston-2 (18.5 average).
