Auto Club Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Milwaukee Mile

The next three Verizon IndyCar Series races are on oval racetracks, but that’s where similarities end.

Rounds 11-13 of the schedule further showcase the series’ diversity – a 2-mile superspeedway, a 1-mile flat track and a .894-mile, variably-banked speedway where 17-second laps are the norm – to challenge drivers and their teams.

A look at the next three in the championship:

MAVTV 500

When: June 26-27
Where: Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
Race: 250 laps (500 miles)

Track: 2-mile, D-shaped oval
Banking: 14 degrees in turns

First Indy car race: 1997 … Mark Blundell won with average speed of 166.575 mph (13 races total at venue)
2014: Tony Kanaan, who started seventh, led Chip Ganassi Racing Teams teammate Scott Dixon across the start-finish line by 3.6750 seconds to win the 500-mile race. Ed Carpenter, who won the race in 2012 and was runner-up in 2013, placed third.

250-lap race: Average speed of 196.111 mph by Tony Kanaan on Aug. 30, 2014. Jimmy Vasser had an average speed of 197.995 mph for the 250-lap race (507.250 miles) in November 2002 when the track was measured at 2.029 miles.

Two-lap qualifying: Average speed of 220.775 mph by Will Power in October 2013.

Race lap: 224.757 mph by Scott Dixon in September 2003.

ABC Supply Wisconsin 250 at Milwaukee IndyFest

Banking: 9.25 degrees in turns, 2.5 degrees on straightaways

First Indy car race: 1939 … Babe Stapp won with average speed of 83.6510 mph (112 races total at venue)
2014: Will Power won from the pole, leading 224 laps and beating Team Penske teammate Juan Pablo Montoya to the finish line by 2.7949 seconds. Tony Kanaan finished third.

250-lap race: Average speed of 136.848 mph by Ryan Hunter-Reay in June 2013.

Two-lap qualifying: Averaged speed of 170.840 mph by Dario Franchitti in June 2011.

Race lap: 164.582 mph by Dan Wheldon in June 2007.

Iowa Corn 300

First Indy car race: 2007 … Dario Franchitti won with average speed of 123.898 mph (eight races total at venue)
2014: Ryan Hunter-Reay held off Josef Newgarden by 0.5814 of a second to win after a late-race restart. Tony Kanaan, who led 247 of the 300 laps, finished third.
