Turbo with a young fan

NEW YORK -- How slow will they go?

That's the question for the snail race July 9 during "Today" on NBC as four-time IZOD IndyCar Series and three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Dario Franchitti's introduced an epic, winner-take-all snail race from the stable of the show's co-hosts -- Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales, Willie Geist -- and actor Ryan Reynolds.

Reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Tony Kanaan, three-time winner Helio Castroneves and reigning IZOD IndyCar Series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay will be on hand for the drama. Reynolds is the voice of Theo, the main character in the movie.

The five competitors will play skee ball to move their snails up the side of Studio 1A. The show airs from 7-9 a.m. (ET) on NBC.

The segment promotes the U.S. premiere of DreamWorks Animation's "Turbo" later in the day in Manhattan. The feature film distributed by 20th Century Fox that features the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race and the IZOD IndyCar Series will be in theaters July 17.
