Dempsey and Karam visit Sukup

The day before their one-day show at Iowa Speedway, Firestone Indy Lights front-runners Sage Karam and Peter Dempsey visited the headquarters of Sukup Manufacturing, the title sponsor of the Sukup 100.

The company, based in Sheffield, Iowa, produces everything from grain bins to metal building equipment and is the largest family-owned full-line grain drying and storage equipment manufacturer.

The two most recent race winners in Firestone Indy Lights did a meet and greet with the family and its employees, then got the behind-the-scenes experience with an all access tour.

Dempsey and Karam visit Sukup "We got to see all the different areas where they manufacture all the equipment for the grain bins, the storage bins for the grain," Dempsey said. "Everything is done in-house...they even made the [Sukup 100] trophies this year themselves."

The trophies were an item of interest for both drivers, who quipped back and forth on who would be hoisting the first-place prize in the Pizza Ranch Victory circle on Saturday night.

Green flag for the Sukup 100 falls at 8:50 p.m. (CT) following the IZOD IndyCar Series heat races, with live radio broadcast and timing available on racecontrol.indycar.com. The race will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network June 28 at 11 p.m.
