A light rain shower shortened the morning practice session for Firestone Indy Lights drivers preparing for Firestone Freedom 100 qualifications.

Sage Karam, driving the No. 8 Schmidt Peterson with Curb-Agajanian car, topped the speed chart with a lap of 189.981 mph (47.3732 seconds). Kyle O'Gara was second (189.940 mph) in the No. 67 SFHRD/RW/Schmidt Peterson Motorsports-Moynahan Williams car.

Series championship points leader Carlos Munoz (189.511 mph) was third in the No. 26 Dialy-Ser Andretti Autosport car.

Eleven drivers, including eight first-time competitors on the 2.5-mile oval, totaled 194 laps in the session. Qualifications are scheduled for 1:15 p.m. (ET). The 40-lap race is at noon (ET) May 24 and will be televised live on NBC Sports Network. The IMS Radio Network, augmented by real-time Timing & Scoring, will be available on indycar.com.
