The “Lady in the Lake” sculpture, which greeted spectators of the 2012 Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, has departed Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala., for a new home at Barber Marina a couple of hours south.
The 7,500-pound sculpture created by Mark Cline was lifted from the lake at Barber Motorsports Park last week and was placed on two trucks to be transported to Barber Marina.
The IZOD IndyCar Series event at the scenic road course is scheduled for April 5-7. GET TICKETS
Santa races to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis
Santa and elves … start your engines.
Santa Claus will arrive in INDYCAR style at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on Nov. 23 to kick off Jolly Days.
The jolly old soul will ride in an Indy Car Experience two-seater, accompanied by the Honda Civic Si Coupe Safety Cars, from the Dallara factory on Main Street in Speedway, Ind., to the world’s largest children’s museum on Illinois Street in Indianapolis.
He’s expected to take the checkered flag at 9 a.m. at the museum and greet families. A free youth with the purchase of an adult admission is available on tickets purchased before 10 a.m. when the entire museum opens.
“We certainly share Santa’s sense of urgency in meeting with all the good little girls and boys this season and we are honored that he made it a priority to race in to The Children’s Museum so early this year,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Tagliani among celebs at gala
Barracuda Racing driver Alex Tagliani was among the celebrities at the 40th Canadian International Auto Show Charity Gala on Nov. 16 in Toronto. Former Indy car driver and ABC IZOD IndyCar Series analysts Scott Goodyear was the master of ceremonies.
Tagliani’s image is featured on “hood art” created by Ron Gibbs using a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro hood as the canvas (photo above). The piece was among the auction items at the event.
Proceeds from the event will further the works of the Toronto Automobile Dealers Foundation in support of causes such as the Ronald McDonald House, the Trillium Gift of Life Network and the Canadian Safe Schools Network.

INDYCAR president of operations and strategy Brian Barnhart and manager of track safety operations Mike Yates will be featured speakers at the International Council of Motorsports Sciences annual congress Nov. 27-28 in Orlando, Fla.

Gabby Chaves, the Star Mazda Championship runner-up this season, won the TaG Senior division at the 16th SKUSA SuperNationals at Las Vegas over the weekend. … Jillian Unitas, granddaughter of Pro Football Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas, has joined Andretti Sports Marketing. … Graham Rahal will get his first track time in the No. 15 Honda-powered car for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing on Nov. 27 at Barber. Rahal, who was announced last week as the team’s driver, will join nine other IZOD IndyCar Series drivers (including champion Ryan Hunter-Reay) in testing Dec. 12-13 at Sebring International Raceway. ... Dragon Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais will co-drove a Starworks Motorsport Daytona Prototype in the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. He and Alex Popow co-drove a Starworks car to victory in the inaugural Brickyard Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July.
