Zach Veach began racing when he was 12 years old. He started in go-karts and soon moved onto Formula BMW. In 2010, he competed in the USF2000 National Championship and moved up to the Star Mazda Championship in 2011. In 2012, he had 11 top-10 finishes in Star Mazda. Outside of the track, Veach released his first book, 99 THINGS TEENS WISH THEY KNEW BEFORE TURNING 16, with an appearance on NBC's The Today Show.

Hobbies: Aviation/flying, rock climbing/big wall climbing, mountaineering, remote control cars and planes, reading/learning new things

Snapshot: I am always looking for the exciting sides of life and eager to learn something new. From rock climbing to sitting in the race car, I’m hooked on the rush of life you get when doing something out of the ordinary. This is part of the reason for me training to one day free climb the ‘Nose’ of El Capitan. But even more importantly, I love to help people and make a difference in their lives for the greater good because that’s a win-win for everybody.

Racing goal: To become a Verizon IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500 professional race car driver

Racing hero: Michael Andretti

My fitness routine includes: A lot of strength training in the off-season to build up muscle and then a lot of cardio to stay in shape during the season. Also, I have to eat as much as I can every day to try to gain more weight (4,000 to 6,000 calories).

An interesting note about me: Being 21 this year, I finally get real champagne on the podium.
