Motley Crue is calling it quits, really, after its tour that launched July 2 is complete.

Lead vocalist Vince Neil joined drummer Tommy Lee, bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist Mick Mars in January 1981 to record the group's first album, "Too Fast for Love," and the glam-metal pioneers' ascent was meteoric.

Here's a fact from way back: In 1992, Neil competed in the CART/Firestone/Dayton Indy Lights Series.

Neil qualified the No. 69 P.I.G. (Personal Investment Group) car 14th at Phoenix (finished 12th), 16th at Portland (finished 12th), 10th at Milwaukee (finished 10th) and 17th at Long Beach (did not finish, placed 17th).
