There are many things AJ Allmendinger assumed he would be doing during the Month of May.

Golf cart racing across the Yard of Bricks and practicing his putting stroke in front of the Pagoda at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway were likely not among them.

Allmendinger had some fun with PGA Tour pro and Team IZOD teammate Spencer Levin on a off day during Indianapolis 500 activities. He let Levin climb into the cockpit of his No. 2 IZOD Team Penske car, and gave him a lap in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Pace Car.

“You could see the talent he has,” Allmendinger said of Levin after the ride around. “I was trying to scare him, but he held his phone the whole time videotaping it, so that’s why he hits the ball so far. Steady hands.”

The athletes put their competitive natures on display as they participated in a best-of-three heat race down the frontstretch in IZOD-branded golf carts, with Allmendinger winning the rubber match. Shortly afterward, Levin took the upper hand when the game moved to the front of the Pagoda for a putting contest.

“I’ll be making my PGA debut in probably 2015, maybe,” Allmendinger joked.

“He’s a better golfer than I would be a driver,” Levin said.
