Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck says there are many similarities between football and Indy car racing. Primarily teamwork.

Luck and fellow quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck and Chandler Harnish along with wide receiver Griff Whalen toured the No. 83 Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing garage and spent time on pit lane with the team as guests of driver Charlie Kimball on May 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"As a sports fan, it’s awesome to see a spectacle like this, a stadium like this," Luck said. "To see how different athletes operate and how a race car team operates compared to a football team."

Added Kimball: "I wanted them to come see my office, because in the winter it’s easy to turn on the TV and see these guys go to work on Sundays. I wanted to give them the opportunity see what I think is the greatest sporting venue in the world – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- and see us turn laps at 215, 220 mph and give them the full Indianapolis experience."

Carpenter's team gets boost from alma mater

Ed Carpenter will carry a Butler University logo on the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka car in the Indianapolis 500.

Carpenter, a 2003 graduate of the Indianapolis school, unveiled the logo along with Butler University president James Danko, athletic director Barry Collier, men’s basketball coach Brad Stevens and mascots Butler Blue II and Butler Blue III.

“It’s nice to be able to do something together," said Carpenter, the lone owner/driver in the IZOD IndyCar Series. "Hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate together at the end of this month. They’ve been great to me from the time I was there (as a student) and since I’ve graduated. It’s a great community and it’s fun to represent them.”

Added Stevens: “It’s great when you get to follow the race so close because it’s in your hometown. To have a sincere rooting interest is fun, too."
