The British Road Racing Drivers’ Club has elevated Jack Hawksworth, the 2012 Star Mazda champion who has graduated to Firestone Indy Lights with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports for the 2013 season, within its ranks from the status of Rising Star to SuperStar.

With a stated objective of nurturing Britain’s future motorsports heroes, the SuperStars structure offers assistance in multiple areas, including career guidance workshops and media and sponsorship advice.

“Being appointed a SuperStar is a real vindication of what I’ve been able to accomplish in single-seaters in just a couple of seasons,” said Hawksworth, who was a BRDC McLaren Autosport Award finalist and was presented the Henry Surtees Trophy in 2012. “It’s brilliant to know the BRDC appreciate what I’m doing and regard me as a driver to keep tabs on over the coming years – and that can only be positive for my reputation both in the States and in Europe.”

Hawksworth and other Firestone Indy Lights drivers are participating in Open Tests at Sebring International Raceway (March 7-8) and Barber Motorsports Park (March 11) in advance of the season-opening race March 23 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla.
