Remember those home videos that you begged your parents never to play in public? Well, Josef Newgarden isn’t so fortunate.

The IMS Productions crew went deep into the archives (deep is 2005 for Newgarden) for an interview with the budding karting star at New Castle Motorsports Park. The clip is part of the latest episode of “INDYCAR 36” that will be broadcast Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. (ET) on NBC Sports Network.

The 12th episode of the show, which goes behind the scenes during IZOD IndyCar Series race weekends, features the freshman Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing driver in Southern California for the season finale. The production crew joined Newgarden at the infield care center as INDYCAR medical director Dr. Michael Olinger checked his broken finger suffered at Sonoma three weeks earlier and accompanied team members at In-N-Out for dinner among other segments.

“He’s vibrant, has a lot of enthusiasm and is confident, and he brings a lot of that to the guys on the team,” said Andy O’Gara, Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing’s general manager. “Unfortunately, he’s not had a lot of luck. He’s been a pleasure to work with. He has the skill, the talent and the personality to be a star in this sport. The future is bright.”

The 2011 Firestone Indy Lights champion led his first race lap at Auto Club Speedway. He qualified five times in the top 10.
