Appointment viewing: Indianapolis 500 time trials
MAY 18, 2012
NBC Sports Network pit reporter Townsend Bell calls time trials for the Indianapolis 500 “the most stressful time” in racing. He’s speaking from experience.
Bell will attempt to qualify for the 500 Mile Race for the sixth time and offer his unique perspective as NBC Sports Network surrounds qualifications May 19 and 20 with 12 hours of coverage. In Canada, TSN2 has coverage both days (at same broadcast times as NBC Sports Network). Real-time Timing & Scoring and streaming video of driver post-qualifying news conferences will be on www.indycar.com.
Kevin Lee and Derek Daly will serve as pit reporters, along with interviews and analysis from Robin Miller. Bob Jenkins will call the action, with Jon Beekhuis and Wally Dallenbach providing analysis.

“These guys get torn up more about qualifying than they do for the actual race,” Dallenbach said. “There is no margin for error and you are pushing the envelope. The emotions for qualifying are the biggest in any motorsport that I know … the most important thing is to be in the race.”
NBC Sports Network also has five hours of coverage on Miller Lite Carb Day on May 25, featuring the final practice session, Firestone Freedom 100 and the Pit Stop Competition. A new episode of INDYCAR 36, focusing on 2011 race runner-up and Chase Rookie of the Year JR Hildebrand, will be televised at 6:30 p.m. (ET) May 26.
