It was quite a day for rookies at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Josef Newgarden, Bryan Clauson and James Jakes all were in the top five of the speed chart. JR Hildebrand was second quick.

Newgarden and Hildebrand are former Firestone Indy Lights champions, while Clauson -- the reigning USAC National Drivers Champion title-holder -- competed in Firestone Indy Lights last year.
